CAMBRIDGE: Ha remecido el totalizador en sus dos únicos triunfos en el Club Hípico. En su salida de perdedor el 1 de junio, a $ 39, derrotó por ventaja perceptible a Cambalache XXI. Y sin haber figurado jamás en su vida, sorprendió al vencer a $ 98 al campeón El Pícaro en el G1 El Ensayo Mega, siendo el más abandonado en las apuestas en notable conducción de Pedro Robles. Luego cuando debía asumir protagonismo, llegó tercero a 8 ¾ cuerpos de Nuevo Maestro en el G3 La Copa entre cuatro corredores. Irregularidad que frustró su nominación para el Latino pese a ganar la prueba cumbre de Blanco Encalada.

CARIBLANCO: El ganador de la Triple Corona del Hipódromo Chile será el favorito de El Derby. Tras un prometedor inicio en el Club Hípico donde ganó los clásicos El Debut Potrillos y Luis Subercaseaux, el defensor del stud Hermano Querido fracasó en el Criadores y en el G1 Alberto Vial Infante. Así su equipo tomó una decisión crucial: lo llevó a La Palma donde sólo perdió en su debut al figurar tercero de Destin. Luego conquistó el circuito de 500 mil dólares al galopar en las Dos Mil Guineas, estirarse a fondo en el Gran Criterium y masacrar en el St. Leger, con su jockey Jaime Medina parándose en los estribos ante los aplausos del respetable. Es el enemigo a vencer para todos por su ductilidad y calidad.

GREY MOON: Gran animadora de la generación femenina en pasto y arena ha sido la hija de Layman. Salió de perdedora por 13 ¼ cuerpos en febrero en el Hipódromo Chile y figuró en todos los selectivos del primer semestre. Sin embargo, su triunfo más importante lo logró en su debut en el Club Hípico al ganar el G3 Carlos Valdés. Luego fue segunda en la Polla de Potrancas hasta rematar cuarta en Las Oaks. En pasto nunca ha bajado de la tabla.

EL EXPRESO: Si bien posee sólo un triunfo, el oriundo de Haras Don Luis es uno de los más fogueados del grupo. Tras iniciar su campaña en el Valparaíso Sporting, salió de perdedor en su estreno en el Club Hípico en mayo con su nuevo cuidador Jorge “Chocolo” Obreque, quien ganó El Derby 2015 con Il Campione. Fue su pasaje para disputar todos los selectivos de Blanco Encalada, figurando sólo segundo en el G3 Raimundo Valdés aunque llegando quinto en el Nacional Ricardo Lyon y sexto en El Ensayo. Hasta que su equipo lo llevó de regreso a Viña del Mar donde fue segundo en el G3 Alfredo L.S. Jackson y G2 Copa Jackson. Sumará muchos adeptos porque el astro Héctor Isaac Berríos, quien buscará su quinto Derby, será su jockey tras arribar el viernes al país desde Estados Unidos.
