El jinete Miguel Fuentes lleva seis meses sin correr tras sufrir fractura de tibia en el Hipódromo Chile. Con 60 años, Fuentes es el tercer jinete más antiguo en actividad y sólo sueña en volver:
«Acompañaba a mi papá en el taxi mientras se vestía. Lo asesinaron un mes antes de que me dieran la patente y juré que me vestiría de payaso. En un barrial en el Club me tiré por los palos. Un colega me gritó «te gané» cuando me estaba sacando la foto. Perdí por V.P. y lloré. «Mañana te gano», le respondí. Nos agarramos 400 metros y lo gané por media cabeza. Nos hicimos amigos. Ese fue Carlos Rivera, el mejor de la historia. Hasta hoy soy amigo de Gustavo Barrera. Luis Torres es crack. Me retiré 23 años para trabajar en una feria con mi señora. Entré a la sala de jinetes y me encontré con jinetes que parecen mis nietos. Patricio Zuñiga y Marcelo Cordero son grandes amigos. Molestan los comentarios cuando nos miran en menos. A Iluso Veloz lo cuidaba y con él gané. Hay mucho hípico de boleto. Hoy llega la plata fácil y hay jóvenes que no te saludan. Soy un jinete humilde, pero querido. Patricio Campos me ha ayudado mucho. Busco solo las montas. Voy a morir en las patas de los caballos tal como Emeterio Guzmán» confesó a #Vamosalahípica.
